About Douriean

Douriean creates sacred adornments. She believes that through adornment, women can define their beauty on their own terms and express themselves authentically. Her pieces are the unique products of her creative process in which she explores cultural identity, femininity, spirituality and divine power.
She has made history by becoming the first Jeweler in the Motion Picture Costumer Union, Local 705.

Douriean is an ever-evolving artist unafraid to take risks and push boundaries towards creating the finest and most unique one of a kind wearable art pieces. A daughter of the diaspora, she has traveled throughout Tanzania and South Africa to learn, collaborate and grow as an artist and as a person.  While in these countries, she found that the experience of shared creativity facilitated deep connections to herself and others.

Her studies in South Africa initiated her passion to create wearable art.  Her journeys and interactions with different cultures provided her with a new lens and a different introspection while experiencing the many facets of life.  Douriean's passion as it relates to her wearable art is her commitment in supporting women in revealing and sharing who they are by telling their stories through her work. She uses the original purpose of jewelry; a non-verbal communication tool to tell others who we are and how we feel; her wearable art is necessary now more than ever.

About the Adornments

Douriean uses natural raw materials, gilded 18K and 24K Gold metals, and bold abstract shapes, to bring forth the awareness of an ancient yet futuristic opulence.  With her fusion of primal like symbolism and luxury, her handmade adornments are considered to be fine art jewelry.  The purpose of her work is to provide visionaries and changemakers adornments that reflect their unique brilliance and audacity.

Her work has been seen on NCIS:New Orleans, The Voice, Roots, TLC's Beauty Masters, Marvel’s Black Panther, and Coming 2 America (releasing in 2020).

About Specialty Costumes

Douriean's Introduction into the film industry began when her handcrafted pieces of unique jewelry were recognized by distinguished actress, artist, and advocate, CCH Pounder and by Ruth E. Carter, a distinguished pop culture trailblazer and one of the most sought after Costume Designers.
Douriean's aesthetic, commitment, and quality of work was in alignment with Carter's visionary Costume Design for Black Panther; she became the Specialty Jeweler Costumer for the Marvel's Black Panther movie and obtained the license from Marvel to design and sell Official Black Panther Fine Jewelry Collection.
